Countries Shaped Like Stars

Mi Casa Theatre

Part storytelling, part concert, this is a tales of love heard best through a tin-can telephone.

The story of Gwendolyn Magnificient and Bartholomew Spectacular starts with demanding dragon fruits and ends with heartache whispered into the ears of birts and constellations.  With spoons, water galsses, whirly-winds and a madolin, the performers create the sounds and images of a landscape forever altered by regret.

Since 2009, Mi Casa has performed the multi-award-winning Countries Shaped Like Stars across Canada and New Mexico.  Their site-adaptive work sells out to audiences of all ages in theatres, cafes, bars, church basements, living rooms and festivals.

Ottawa's Mi Casa makes performance that straddles genres - part theatre, part music, part community hang outs, always live.  Their six shows have toured to over 40 venues in 17 cities across Canada.  their work has been nominated for 20 Prix Rideau awards and honoured with seven.

Stephen Hunt reviews Countries Shaped Like Stars in his article Shaping Words Into A Show Filled With Wonder.  To read the article, click here.

What they're saying

"Gently unhinges language & logic, so that we can play in the spaces between words and bathe in the emotions that underlie reason. Another way of saying this is that Countries Shaped Like Stars makes you feel as openhearted and happy as a kid."
- Colin Thomas, Georgia Straight
