High Performance Rodeo and Theatre Calgary present

No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre

The Virtual Stage and Electric Company Theatre

After dazzling Calgary audiences with last year’s Betty Mitchell Award-sweeping production of Studies in Motion: The Hauntings of Eadweard Muybridge, Vancouver’s Electric Company Theatre is back - alongside another innovative west-coast company, The Virtual Stage - with a live-cinema adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre’s 1944 existentialist classic.

A mysterious valet ushers three strangers into a shabby hotel room: a high-society blonde, a womanizing soldier and a manipulative postal clerk. They warily circle the room in a dance of deception, and three giant screens capture every voyeuristic detail as their secrets are stripped away. This darkly hilarious fusion of film and theatre explores the true nature of hell – and, after the show, you’re invited backstage to see the hidden cameras that bring the performance to life.
