ProArts@Noon brings together artists and audiences in the historic Cathedral Church of the Redeemer at the heart of Calgary’s cultural district.

The ProArts Noon Concert Series presents free concerts every Wednesday from 12—1 pm, contributing to Calgary’s vibrant arts community through diverse performances year round.

January 10 - The Oberon Guitar Trio

The Oberon Guitar Trio — Brad Mahon, Murray Visscher, and Ralph Maier — are one of Canada’s most recognizable ensembles. You’ve probably heard them on public radio across North America.

They’ve appeared as featured artists at the Northwest Guitar Festival, MusicFest Vancouver, and GuitarFestWest; as part of university/college concert series (College of the Rockies, University of Calgary, Victoria Conservatory and Mount Royal University); in recital halls in cities like Edmonton, and in smaller centres such as Castlegar and Kaslo.

The group is committed to performing pieces written specifically for the guitar trio genre, with a focus on new and commissioned works.

January 17 - Jossy Gallegos & Tim Williams

Jossy Gallegos, Zihuatanejo, Mexico

Tim Williams, Calgary, Canada

Jossy Gallegos is a talented and versatile singer-songwriter from Mexico. She began her professional career at the age of 9, putting her unique spin on traditional folk songs. At 21, she recorded her first album playing solo guitar in classic Trova, pop, bolero and romantic songs. For her second album, Little Bird , she recorded her own compositions.

Tim Williams is an international award-winning blues-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is a 40-year veteran of the ‘Roots’ music scene in North America, with a history that stretches back to the coffee-house scene of his native California in the mid 60s.

January 24 - Frank Rackow & Middle East Meets Klezmer Project

Middle East Meets Klezmer Project is a musical project dedicated to exploring the colourful and vast klezmer tradition (Eastern European Jewish wedding music) and related styles. For this special concert, it combines klezmer and yiddish music with Turkish, Persian and Arabic instruments and songs.
